First, the talker: 99%: That is Winter Haven's multifamily occupancy rate, said Bruce Lyon, Winter Haven EDC president. Winter Haven has grown by roughly 24,000 residents since 2010, more than 60% growth, with 150 new multifamily rental units built. A few months ago, the EDC's non-scientific anecdotal review of several apartment complexes indicated a limited number of units available for lease. All were built before 2003, which are the newest large complexes in Winter Haven, Lyon said. 'Vacancy rate was estimated at zero because available units were being leased immediately based on a waiting list,' he told the Business Journal.
