A Class 4S District 8 matchup between Winter Haven and Ridge Community featured some premiere Polk County rushing attacks Friday night at Ridge Community High School. One rushing attacked was hindered early due to injury and the other thrived.Ridge Community all-county running back Joe Jackson injured his ankle in the first quarter and didn't return. But Winter Haven running back Alfred Smothers kept the pedal to the medal and himself a career day thanks to rushing the ball 15 times for 267 yards and two touchdowns.
