Santa Fe Catholic cross country runner Daniel Welling ran away with more than half the votes as the top athlete in The Ledger's first Tremendous 10 poll of the 2023-24 school year. Welling, a senior, picked up 55.4 percent of the more than 41,000 votes cast. He's one of the top cross country runners in Polk County and also runs track and field. In the opening week of the 2023 season, he ran a personal-best time of 16:42.90 in the very competitive Jim Ryun Invitational. Lakeland Christian football player Josh Bellamy took second with 34 percent of the vote as the only other athlete with more than 10 percent of the vote.
